The family workshop
After earning his diploma as a mechanical technician, David Rota began working in the small family workshop in the province of Bergamo, building dies for cold sheet metal forming. The apprenticeship was tough but rewarding: he learned to operate all machine tools — milling, turning, EDM, bench work, die assembly and testing. Passionate about his work, he introduced the first CNC machines and new design systems.
A calling for machines
His passion for machine tools and new technologies drove David Rota toward industrial machinery sales. He represented major international brands and developed deep market knowledge, connecting with hundreds of industrial companies across Northern Italy.
Industrialbay is born
The internet was making giant leaps forward and David Rota saw its potential. His experience in new machine sales naturally evolved toward used machines. He founded Industrialbay, a company using the web as its primary channel for selling used machine tools. The idea worked: Industrialbay quickly became a reference point in Italy.
Crisis as opportunity
While the world stopped, David Rota interpreted the global crisis as a call for change. When others slowed down, he accelerated: strengthening his commercial network, consolidating relationships with machine shops across Central-Northern Italy, and laying the groundwork for the next step.
The Makinate partnership
David met Diego Sforza, an expert in international industrial machinery trade, and his partner Heloise Verona. Their collaboration gave birth to Makinate, a new company focused on international markets, speaking five languages and expanding into packaging and confectionery. Thanks to Diego and Heloise's professionalism and hard work, Makinate became a leading company in Europe.
Digital transformation
Things change fast — you can't stand still. David decided to evolve Industrialbay: IndustrialBuyer was born, a modern, technologically advanced platform with category filters, detailed technical specifications, direct chat with operators, and presence across all social networks.
The future is here
The manufacturing sector faces real challenges, but hard work, attention to new technologies, an open mindset and continuous research have allowed us to stay in the market and grow. We've built collaborations and joint ventures with other industry partners. We never stopped. And we won't.
