Most of the machines we handle are Sodick, with linear generators, alongside other Japanese and European builders. Typical buyers: mould makers, electrode shops and precision workshops cutting hardened steels and carbide.

Listings state travels, tank capacity and, where possible, generator and wire-guide condition. Test runs are arranged by appointment, with a sample cut if you want to check the finish.

Wire or sinker EDM: which one do I need?

Wire EDM cuts through-profiles starting from a hole or an edge: dies, punches, gears, tapered pins. Sinker EDM replicates an electrode shape in negative and is used for blind cavities: mould figures, ribs, internal corners a cutter cannot reach. Many mould shops end up running both.

What should I check on a used wire EDM?

Wire guide and power contact condition (they wear and cost money), the automatic threading mechanism, tank sealing and generator hours. At inspection ask for a test cut with roughness and taper check: it tells you at once what state the machine is in.

How much do consumables matter? How do I evaluate them before buying?

They are the running cost of EDM: wire, resin, filters, guides and contacts. Before buying, check spare-part availability for that model and the state of the consumables installed: a machine with fresh guides and contacts starts ahead.

Can the machines be seen under power?

Yes, by appointment. Where the machine is already disconnected we send videos and extra photos; with EDM the dielectric and tank condition also matter, and we document them.
